BROW LIFT

A DISTINCTIVELY DIFFERENT PRACTICE

EXPERIENCE EXTRAORDINARY

What is a Brow Lift?

During the aging process the elasticity of the skin changes, horizontal lines across the forehead become more prominent, and the position of the brow migrates downward. These changes can give the face a sad or tired appearance. Additionally, the brow descent may cause hooding of the upper eyelid, which can impair vision. If you are bothered by these facial changes, a brow lift may be indicated.

A brow lift is a procedure that elevates the position of the brow. The locations of the incisions and the extent of lift that is achieved are tailored to the individual needs of the patient. A formal brow lift can also reduce the horizontal wrinkles across the forehead, and those between the brows.

About the Procedure:

Local anesthesia will be used to numb the surgical site. Other medications are administered for your comfort during the procedure. The extent of sedation that is administered will depend on whether or not other procedures are being performed in combination with your brow lift.

Incision locations will vary and are dependent on which type of brow lift is best for you. Brow lifts can be performed by directly visualizing the skin, muscle, and underlying structures, or with the assistance of an endoscope (a small camera) that is passed under skin and muscle. The type of brow lift that is most appropriate for you will be discussed with you at your consultation.

A limited incision in the temporal hairline is frequently used to raise the position of the lateral brow. This incision is small and very well camouflaged by the hair. Alternatively, several small incisions across the scalp can be used to perform a brow lift with an endoscope. Women with a very tall forehead and posterior hairline sometimes benefit from a brow lift incision along the hairline. This incision allows for correction of forehead wrinkles and adjustment of brow position, while shortening the forehead. Other incision locations include a coronal incision within the hair-bearing scalp.
